Are Zune Marketplace video purchases copy-protected?

July 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Zune and I'm browsing their online store, aka the "Zune Marketplace." Does anyone know if their videos are drm-encrypted and/or can't be burned to a DVD?

I found an article here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929976

It explicitly says TV video can't be burned to a CD. But does that include TV shows like South Park, or just exclusive live recordings?

Someone please explain because I'm sure there's a catch somewhere that doesn't work to my benefit…

Basically: Can I a buy a season of, say, South Park and burn it to DVD?
