Buying new iPhone. Can I sell my old one?

The new iPhone was announced today, and I have a good chance at selling my old phone on eBay but I want to do it tonight. if I buy the iPhone 3G on June 11th and activate it, could someone else activate my old phone on their account? (Assuming they agree to a new 2-year contract?)
