Can I use my 80gb ipod without headphones?

I recently got my first ipod and I love it. However, I used the earphones that came with it and it is really hurting my ears. I am not blasting it. I know I could get a docking station to listen to music, but is there any way I can take it around with me so I can watch video and play games on it without having sound filtered through headphones?

Also, should I try different headphones that may not hurt my ears to bad. I hate those earbud things. I am just concerned that I may have sensitve eardrums though.
But I want to have sound watching video, just not through headphones. Can I get wireless or portable speakers?
