Cracked iPod Screen Help?

My mom bought me a new ipod nano [3g] when she came back from london, but she bought it in the duty free on the way home. after a month and a half, the ipod screen cracked from the inside. HELP! i know the warranty is valid because i had it for less that a year and i bought it in MY country. but i dont know where the warranty is! can they check the serial number to see when it was activated? also CAN THEY FIX THIS PROBELM??
