do you have to have itunes to have limewire?

i dont have a ipod i have a mp3 player. & im sick of always having to have my brother put all the songs on it (he has an ipod & limewire) & he never has time.
i want to do it myself & have limewire so i can listen to music on my computer without youtube.

my brother said that you can only have limewire if you have itunes.
is there any way i can download my own songs on my mp3 without my brother?
i knew my brother was just being an asshole (:
he probly knew that all along & wants to make my life more diffcult haha
