Im not quite sure, but it might be a good idea to re-install the drivers from the CD that should have come with your iPod Touch….

Or you could always try using Realplayer..it can also be used to transfer music to iPod easily.

Try going into your hard drive (usually C: drive) and look for programs. Then look for itunes and delete it from there. Then clean out your recycle bin so there's no traces of it left in your computer.

The Apple iTouch is a relatively new device. The iTunes software that came in with your old iPod might not know how to recognize the new device. Do this to resolve your issue:

      - Uninstall the version of iTunes you have. If prompted to restart please do so.
      - Install iTunes and software for your iTouch using the software CD that came with your iTouch.
      - Then when prompted, connect your new iTouch and see whether iTunes can recognize the device. Please note that iTouch has to be charged to a certain level for iTunes to recognize it. So keep the device connected to the USB port for about an hour to charge its batteries.
      - If you still can't resolve the problem then try downloading the latest version of iTunes from the Apple site: http://www.apple.com/itunes

If your iTouch is still not recognized by the computer then you may want to connect it to a friends computer to check whether its working properly. iTunes can't connect to defected devices. If the device is still failing you may want to contact Apple customer care.
