I have a Nano.
1. Download the latest version of iTunes/Quicktime players on to your computer. You can get it for free from apple.com
2. Create an iTune account so that you can buy and download your music, music videos
3. Connect your Nano to your computer and follow the on-screen directions to have your Nano, your computer and iTunes all talking with each other
4. Set your Nano up the way you want (I'd go with no auto sync, display album art, volume limit, and purchase via shopping cart)
5. Pull down the various menus and familiarize yourself with the controls
6. If needed, go to the last pull down (Help?), the right most menu and you should see iTune and iPod help buttons. If you go to iPod help button, you will be directed to a actual owners menu for the Nano.
7. Once you are satisfied with all the functions, go to the iTune store and browse for the music and music videos you want. Find what you want and put it in your shopping cart (this way, you don't have to purchase right away and immediately have it downloaded, $0.99/song and around a $1 or more per video will add up fast). Then, go to your cart and purchase only what you want. (You are able to preview the songs, all you have to do is to double click on the song you are shopping for)
8. The song/video will automatically be in your music library. All you have to do is to highlight, drag and drop it into the Nano.
Congrats! You have your song/video. Make files to organize if you want. And keep on playing and exploring the features.

iPod accepts only MP4 format video, please make sure your video is compatible with iPod. If your vide is MP4 video, please follow these steps:
1. Open iTunes and click "File" to add your videos to iTunes library.
2. plug in your iPod to computer, then iTunes will detect your iPod as a device.
3. Select your iPod device on the left panel of iTunes, click "Movies" tab, check the videos you want to sync and click "Apply", done.
If your video isn't MP4 format, you need third party software to convert video to MP4 video. You may try an iPod converter develped by Aimersoft; it embeds an iPod manager that can help you transfer DVD movie and video to iPod directly. It works really nice for me. Here is a step by step guide about it

Hope it helps, if you still have problem, feel free to e-mail me
